Hello and welcome to today’s story.
Last week, we talked about the truth about real value. Get it by clicking the link below.
Today, we would discuss Emeka’s disappearing money.
Proverbs 23:5 GNT
[5] Your money can be gone in a flash, as if it had grown wings and flown away like an eagle.

Emeka was a smart 17-year-old who loved to save. While many of his friends rushed off to buy the latest gadgets, Emeka saved almost every bit of his allowance and holiday money. He felt proud watching his savings grow inside a metal box under his bed. Every time he counted the notes, he smiled. “I’ll be rich soon,” he’d whisper to himself.
By the time Emeka finished high school, he had saved 100,000 Naira. He had plans—big ones. Maybe he’d buy a laptop or start a small business. But when he visited the electronics store, reality hit. The laptop that once cost 95,000 Naira now cost 160,000. Shocked, Emeka checked the price of other items too—everything had gone up! “But I saved so much,” he muttered, confused and frustrated.

His uncle, who had been watching him grow into a financially disciplined teenager, sat him down. “Emeka,” he said, “you’ve done well by saving, but money left alone loses power over time. This is caused by inflation. Prices go up, but the value of your cash doesn’t. Saving is important, but money needs to grow—through investments, learning skills, or starting something small that earns more.”
So Emeka learned, and found his spark,
Investing small to make his mark.
Now he teaches far and wide,
Let your money grow—not hide.
That evening, Emeka started reading about simple investments and business ideas for teens. He subscribed for an online publication on financial education and a class about entrepreneurship and began thinking of ways to make his money work for him. No longer was he just a saver—he was becoming financially intelligent.
Emeka’s story teaches us this: saving is a great start, but not the end. Let your money be active. Learn. Grow. Invest in knowledge and opportunities. Because money that sleeps too long, wakes up weaker.
